A new casino law came into efect on the 1st January 2006. Casino operators in Tbilisi must pay an annual GEL 5 million fee. In Batumi opertors must pay GEL 1 million and in Tskaltubo no fee is required.

New laws in Kazakhstan came into effect on 1st April, 2007. Casinos and slot halls are legal in only two regions of the country - Lake Kapchagai (right bank) & the Shchuchinsk region.

Kazinform reported on the 2nd April that 14 casinos and 130 slot halls had already closed in Astana.
